I am so confused about college?
I have one year left to complete my bachelors in psychology and anthropology, and I could take all the remaining classes online. However with the economy there doesn’t seem to be any jobs where I could make more than 8/hr even with my bachelors degree, and 8/hr is barely more than minimum wage. I have thought about doing a one year program in dental assisting instead of finishing my bachelors next year, so I could make maybe 13/hr when I graduate, but it’s basically a program where you work 40 hours a week for free so I’d be losing a lot of time and money.
I don’t know what to do. I could really use some advice! : (
your bachelors is not as demanding meaning there are already too many people with a similar bachelor’s degree. my best advice is to keep looking for jobs. go even farther from where you live & surely there will be job openings. i’m 18 & without a college degree yet but even i make more than 8/hour, so there MUST be a better job for you.
have you considered getting a master’s degree? the higher your credentials the better chance you have at getting a job (but of course it’s expensive & usually the top students make it to grad school). also a reason why you aren’t finding satisfying jobs is b/c you might not have enough experience as an employee. as horrible as it sounds the 1 year program in dental assisting is a big boost to your profile.
sorry i must be going in circles. but remember that you’re not the only one. those who make are the most dedicated & persistent. best of luck!
oh yea i forgot networking is very important in order to find a satisfying job. ask a friend or someone else you know, there’s no reason to be embarrassed.
